“Wainwright had been liberated, but he did not know it.” – Evangelist Ed Silvoso

“My Commander-in-Chief has defeated your Commander-in-Chief. You must surrender.” – General Wainwright

Colossians 2:15“Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.” (in the cross)

1 John 4:4b“He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.”

Redemption – to be set free by means of a payment or ransom

We have been redeemed from the powers of darkness.

Colossians 1:13“He has delivered us from the powers of darkness and conveyed us into the Kingdom of the Son of His love.”

We have been redeemed from the guilt, condemnation, and dominion of sin.

Romans 8:12“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.”

We have been redeemed from the curse of the law.

Galatians 3:13“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree’).”

We have been redeemed from the fear of death.

Hebrews 2:14b-15“That through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is the devil, and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”

As believers, the price paid for our redemption was the blood of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 1:7a“In Him we have redemption through His blood.”

1 Peter 1:18“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers.”

1 Peter 1:19“But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

Exodus 6:6“Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments.’”

John 1:29“The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world’!”

Ephesians 1:7a“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.”

How do we respond to this powerful declaration of redemption?

1. Believe the Truth of the Word

Ephesians 1:7“In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace.”

Psalm 103:12“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.”

I AM WHO HE SAYS I AM!

I AM REDEEMED AND FORGIVEN BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS CHRIST!

2. Receive the Promise of His Word

Isaiah 44:22“I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions, and like a cloud, your sins. Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”

3. Walk into the Light of His Word

Psalm 119:130a“The entrance of Your words gives light.”

Redemption – a conquering king setting prisoners free

The prison door is open, but we must walk out!

Discussion Questions:

1. In what ways have you been living like a prisoner of war, even though Jesus has won a great victory through His blood?

2. What are some of the lies of the enemy you have believed about yourself or about the Lord?

3. What promise in the Word is the Holy Spirit calling you to lay hold of and believe?

4. Is there a prison in your life (for example: anxiety or depression) that the King of Glory is calling you to exit and walk out of?
