FREE FROM DEMONIC OPPRESSION
Luke 13:10-11 – “Now He was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And behold, there was a woman who had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bent over and could in no way raise herself.”
Luke 13:12-13 – “But when Jesus saw her, He called her to Him and said to her, ‘Woman, you are loosed from your infirmity.’ And He laid His hands on her, and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.”
Jesus came to destroy the works of the enemy and to rescue people from the power of sin and evil.
1 John 3:8b – “For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.”
Luke 4:18 – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed.”
Acts 10:38 – “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.”
How do we get free and stay free from demonic oppression?
1. Discern between demonic oppression and the works of the flesh.
Galatians 5:19-21 – “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God.”
Ephesians 4:27 – “Nor give place to the devil.”
Demonic oppression brings a sense of compulsion.
Demonic oppression brings a sense of torment.
Demonic oppression brings a sense of helplessness.
Demonic oppression brings a sense of hopelessness.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to show us any open doors.
Trauma from our past can open doors to the enemy.
Generational iniquity can open doors to the enemy.
Continual sinful choices can open the door to the enemy.
Involvement in the occult will open doors to the enemy.
Idolatry will open the door to the enemy.
3. How do I get free from demonic oppression?
A. Reaffirm your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
Romans 10:9 – “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
B. Choose to forgive those who have caused trauma or pain from your past.
Mark 11:25 – “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
C. Repent and renounce any involvement with the occult. (Deuteronomy 18: 9-12)
Father God, I repent of any involvement in the occult, witchcraft, fortune-telling, palm-reading, and any other activity forbidden in Your Word. Forgive me and cleanse me in Jesus’ Name.
D. Break any generational curses or iniquities.
Galatians 3:13 – “Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, ‘Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.’)”
Lord Jesus Christ, thank You for becoming a curse for me that I might be set free and walk in the blessing of God. By the Your blood shed upon the cross, I release myself from every generational curse and iniquity in Jesus’ Name.
E. Identify the areas of oppression.
2 Timothy 1:7 – “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
F. Repent of open doors and personal sinful choices.
Lord, I repent of giving any place to the spirit of rejection in Jesus’ Name. Forgive me and cleanse me.
G. Renounce the evil spirit in the Name of Jesus.
I renounce the spirit of rejection and sever any connection with it in Jesus’ Name.
H. Remove the evil spirit in the authority and Name of Jesus Christ.
I break the power of rejection over my life and command the spirit of rejection to be gone in Jesus’ Name.
I. Replace with the opposite.
Father God, I thank You for Your Word in Ephesians 1:6 that says I am accepted in the Beloved. I accept my acceptance in Jesus’ Name.
J. Renew your mind.
Romans 12:2 – “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
