2020-08-23 | WALKING THROGH BITTER WATERS

Exodus 15:25 – So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. When he cast it into the water, the waters were made sweet.

 

Exodus 15:22 – And they went three days in the wilderness and found no water.

 

Exodus 15:23 - Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah.

 

1.      QUIT COMPLAINING

 

Exodus 15:24 – And the people complained against Moses saying, “What shall we drink?”

 

Complain – Murmur, grumble, blame, to rebel

 

Pastor Zahnd – Instead of believing that the God who had split the Red Sea could also provided water in the desert, the people began to murmur and complain. They became as bitter in their souls as the waters of Marah.

 

Pastor Zahnd – When trouble hits, the first thing many people do is get bitter and then blame someone else – usually the leader.

 

Hebrews 12:14 – Pursue peace with all people, and holiness without which no one will see the Lord.

 

Hebrews 12:15 – looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled.

 

Philippians 2:14 – Do all things without complaining and disputing.

 

Philippians 2:15 – that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.

 

2.      CALL ON THE KING

 

Exodus 15:24 – And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”

 

Exodus 15:25 – So he cried out to the Lord.

 

Cry out – Call aloud, cry, shout, call out loudly, call out for help in an intense situation

 

Exodus 15:25(NLT) – So Moses cried out to the Lord for help.

 

Psalm 50:15 – Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

 

3.      COME TO THE CROSS

 

Exodus 15:25 – So he cried out to the Lord, and the Lord showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet.

 

Exodus 15:26 – For I am the Lord who heals you.

 

Isaiah 53:4 – Surely He has borne our griefs(sicknesses) and carried our sorrows(pains); yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.

 

Isaiah 53:5 – But He was wounded(pierced through) for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.

 

Jehovah Rapha – The Lord our healer. The Lord our physician.

 

1 Peter 2:24 – Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness – by whose stripes you were healed.

 

a.      We bring every burden, every hurt, every root of bitterness, every disappointment to the cross

 

b.      We choose to forgive all those who have offended us or disappointed us

Luke 23:34 – Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.

 

c.      We speak words of blessing, words of life, and words of healing in Jesus Name.

Proverbs 15:4 – A wholesome tongue is a tree of life.
