Genesis 1:26 – Then God said, ”Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”
Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.
What does it mean that we are made in the image of God?
Morality
Ability to Reason
Creativity
Dominion and Authority
Psalm 8:6 – You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands;
You have put all things under his feet,
The Law of God
Romans 2:14-15 – for when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do the things in the law, these, although not having the law, are a law to themselves, who show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and between themselves their thoughts accusing or else excusing them
Conscience
Con = With Science = Knowledge
When we violate the Law written on our hearts we do so with knowledge that it is wrong.
1 John 3:4 – Whosoever commits sin transgresses also the law, for sin is the transgression of the law.
Romans 3:23 – for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Galatians 3:24 – Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
Sin is the disease that we are all infected with but the Gospel is the remedy.
Proverbs 20:6 – Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, but who can find a faithful man?
jesus is God’s standard
Romans 3:10-12 – “There is none righteous, no, not one; there is none who understands; there is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside;
The Gospel is the great equalizer
Acts 4:12 – Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be save.
We broke God’s law but Jesus paid our fine.
2 Corinthians 5:21 – For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God in Him
