A Journey To Whole Life Stewardship

A Journey to Whole Life Stewardship

We belong to God

1 Corinthians 6:19b-20 – You are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

Hebrews 9:17(NASB) – for a covenant is valid only when men are dead, for it is never in force while one who made it lives.

Whole life stewardship is the only logical response.

It all belongs to God.

Psalm 24:1 – The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it.

Job 41:11 – Who has a claim against me that I must pay? Everything under heaven belongs to me.

Live for His glory

Find God’s heart in the great commission.

Matthew 28:19-20a –Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you;

Bring God Glory through your Time, Talents, and Treasure

Bring God Glory through your Time

Colossians 4:5 – “Walk in wisdom toward outsiders, making the best use of the time.”

Ephesians 5:15-17(ESV) – Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Bring God Glory through your Talents

1 Peter 4:10 – Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Ephesians 2:10 – For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do

Bring God Glory through your Treasure

Matthew 6:21 – For where your treasure is there your heart will be also.

Matthew 19:21 – Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be complete, go and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

Philippians 3:8 – More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ,

Repent for falling prey to the temptation to live for self.

Make a renewed commitment to honor and prioritize your covenant with God in the areas of time, talent and treasure.

Questions for Discussion/ Reflection

What possessions, talents, or accomplishments in your life do you take pride in?

Are you effectively managing those possessions, talents, and/or accomplishments for God, or are you using them only for yourself?

What will be the hardest thing in your life to recognize that God owns and has access to because of your covenant with Him?

What can or will you do to make sure you are doing the best possible job of managing the stuff God has given you?
