LORD, SEND ME!

Luke 10:1“After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.”

Luke 10:2“Then He said to them, ‘The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.’”

Jesus is inviting us to join Him in reaching the world with His Good News!

1. Accept Your Assignment

Luke 10:1“After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.”

Send – Apostello – to commission, to set apart for a special service, to send with a message, to send out on a mission

Every believer is a sent one.

Every believer is commissioned, appointed, chosen, sent out on a mission, and sent out with a message.

Luke 10:1b“Into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.”

Luke 10:2a“Then He said to them, ‘The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few.’”

“Get ready for the greatest harvest of souls and nations that the world has ever seen.” – Charisma News

Luke 10:2b“Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

2 Corinthians 5:20“Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.”

Isaiah 6:8“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying: ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I! Send me.’”

2. Go with the Shepherd

Luke 10:3“Go your way; behold, I send you out as lambs among wolves.”

We are lambs among wolves, but we have a Good Shepherd to protect us and direct us!

John 10:4“And when He brings out His own sheep, He goes before them; and the sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.”

John 10:11“I am the Good Shepherd. The Good Shepherd gives His life for the sheep.”

John 10:27 – “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.”

Acts 10:44“While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.”

3. Step into Jesus’ Strategy

Luke 10:5“But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’”

Luke 10:8-9“Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you. And heal the sick there, and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.’”

A. Speak Peace

We are representatives of the Prince of Peace!

Luke 10:5“But whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this house.’”

Romans 10:15b“How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the Gospel of peace, who bring glad tidings of good things!”

Romans 5:1“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

B. Prioritize Relationships

Luke 10:8“Whatever city you enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you.”

“BBQ first, then share the Gospel.” – Mark Mittelberg

Luke 5:29“Then Levi gave Him a great feast in his own house. And there were a great number of tax collectors and others who sat down with them.”

C. Minister to Brokenness

Luke 10:9a“And heal the sick there.”

CAN I PRAY WITH YOU?

Sick – ill, weak, helpless, without strength

D. Proclaim the Kingdom

Luke 10:9b“And say to them, ‘The Kingdom of God has come near to you.’”

The Kingdom is the rule and reign of Jesus the King!

1 Corinthians 3:6“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.”

We step out. He steps in!

Discussion Questions:

1. Do you believe that you are commissioned and sent out just like the seventy were sent out in Luke 10?

2. If you believe that you are, what are some of the barriers holding you back from sharing Jesus with others?

3. Do you sometimes feel disqualified? Do you want to avoid rejection or confrontation?

4. What would the Holy Spirit, through His Word, say to those concerns?
