I CAN – THROUGH CHRIST
Philippians 4:10 – “But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly that now at last your care for me has flourished again; though you surely did care, but you lacked opportunity.”
Philippians 4:11-12 – “Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.”
Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
Lies of the enemy: I can’t do anything right, I’ll never make it, I’ll never make ends meet, I’ll never get that promotion, I can’t get along with that person, I can’t do that job.
Philippians 1:12-13 – “But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the Gospel, so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ.”
Philippians 4:11b – “For I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content.”
Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“I can do = ischuos – describes a champion, a victor, one who prevails in every circumstance.” – Rick Renner
I have the ischuos power operating in me; it causes me to be a champion, a victor, and to prevail in every circumstance.
I can do all things THROUGH CHRIST!
Strengthens – endunamis – empower, enable, infuse with supernatural strength and power.
“Endunamis refers to the power of an entire army.” – Rick Renner
The apostle Paul faced every challenging circumstance with the conviction in his heart that Jesus Christ would empower him, enable him, and infuse him with supernatural strength so that he would prevail and be victorious in every situation he faced.
How do we develop a positive, overcoming attitude in life?
1. Recognize and Renounce the Lies of the Enemy
“One of the most common lies I encounter is, ‘I can’t do that. I’m not good enough. I don’t have the ability.’” – Neil Anderson
2 Corinthians 10:5b – “Bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”
“I may fail, but I am not a failure.” – John Hobbs
John 16:13a – “However, when He, the Spirit of Truth has come, He will guide you into all truth.”
2. Replace the Lies with the Truth of the Word
Philippians 4:13 – “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
“I have the ischuos power operating in me and it causes me to be a champion, a victor, and to prevail in every circumstance. And it is through Christ, who has filled me and continuously infuses me with the strength of an entire army!” – Rick Renner
In Christ, we are more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37)
In Christ, we are always led in triumph. (2 Corinthians 2:14)
In Christ, we are born again children of the Most High God, seated in heavenly places. (Ephesians 2:6)
1 John 5:4 – “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world – our faith.”
Jeremiah 15:16 – “Your words were found, and I ate them, and Your Word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; for I am called by Your Name, O Lord God of Hosts.”
Psalm 119:11 – “Your Word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.”
3. Receive His Infusion of Strength and Power
I can do all things through Christ who infuses me with His supernatural, miracle-working power, strength, and ability.
2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV) – “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’”
2 Corinthians 12:10b – “For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
I renounce every lie of the enemy, and I declare by faith the truth of Philippians 4:13 – I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME!
