EVERY BELIEVER – SEATED IN CHRIST

When Jesus ascended into heaven after His resurrection, where did He sit down?

Hebrews 1:3b“When He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.”

Where are we sitting right now?

Ephesians 2:4-6“But God who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved) and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Every believer is seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus!

Our identification in Christ:

a. We were crucified with Christ.

Galatians 2:20“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me.”

Romans 6:6a “Our old man was crucified with Him.”

b. We were buried with Christ when we were baptized.

Romans 6:4a “Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death.”

c. We have been resurrected with Christ.

Ephesians 2:5a “Made us alive together with Christ.”

d. We have been raised up with Christ and seated with Him.

Ephesians 2:6b “And made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.”

Psalm 113:7-8 “He raises the poor out of the dust, and lifts the needy out of the ash heap, that He may seat him with the princes - with the princes of His people.”

How does the truth of being seated with Christ impact our daily lives?

1. We have a Kingdom perspective on life.

We are looking down on our problems, not living under our problems.

“The higher in Christ we go, the smaller our problems seem to be.” – Pastor Pepe

We know the truth of Romans 8:28.

Romans 8:28“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.”

If we love God and turn everything over to Him, we can walk in peace.

2. We have a positive identity in Christ.

Jesus takes us from the ash heap to the right hand of the Father.

“We are enthroned with and in Him at the Father’s right hand.” – Joe McIntyre

Every believer is somebody in Christ.

1 John 3:1a“How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are.”

Hebrews 2:11b “He is not ashamed to call them brethren.”

“I am who You say I am. I have what You say I have. I can do what You say I can do.” – Joe McIntyre

3. We have a restored authority in Christ.

“Jesus’ victory took back the authority that Adam lost.” – Joe McIntyre

Jesus restores us to a place of delegated authority in Him.

Romans 5:17 “For if by one man’s offense death reigned through the one, much more those who receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness will reign in life though the One, Jesus Christ.”

We are called to reign in life through faith in Jesus Christ.

We have authority to push back the powers of darkness in Jesus’ Name.

Luke 10:19 “Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

We pray from heaven to earth.

Job 22:28 “You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you.”
