2020-08-02 | RECOVERING GOD'S DIRECTION
Position yourself for His direction:
1. Physically
Matthew 4: 1-10
Isaiah 58
Acts 2, 4, and 13
1 Timothy 2:8 – I want men in every place to pray lifting up holy hands without wrath(anger) and dissension (rebellion; disagreement)
2. Emotionally
Proverbs 4:23 – Guard your heart, it is the wellspring of life.
Exodus 28:30b – In this way, Aaron will always carry over his heart the objects used to determine the Lord’s will for his people whenever he goes in before the Lord.
1 Thessalonians 5:23a(MSG) – May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body
Hebrews 4:12(NLT) – For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
3. Spiritually
Isaiah 40:31(NASB) – Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, they will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Psalm 27:14(NKJV) – Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!
Lamentations 3:25-26 – The Lord is good to those who wait for Him,
To the soul who seeks Him.
It’s good that one should hope and wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord
Psalm 46:10 – Be still and know that I am God
Psalm 130:5(NKJV) – I wait for the LORD, my soul waits, And in His word I do hope.
Psalm 130:5(NIV) – I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word, I put my hope.
Questions for discussion and reflection:
1. When was the last time you received direction from God? What form did it take?
2. Can you share a time when you struggled to discern God’s direction, perhaps between your spirit and your emotions?
3. Do you struggle to wait on the Lord? Why?
4. What needs to change in your life so that you are better positioned (consistently) to receive God’s direction?
