GOD ALMIGHTY
Isaiah 9:6 (NLT) – For a Child is born to us, a Son is given to us. The government will rest on His shoulders. And He will be called: Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Colossians 2:9 – For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body.
Philippians 2:6-7 – Though he was God…and was born as a human being.
Mighty God: Powerful, Warrior, Champion, Giant, Strong One, Valiant – Strong’s
1. Recognize His agenda
John 2:15 – Jesus made a whip from some ropes and chased them all out of the temple. He drove out the sheep and cattle, scattered the money changers’ coins over the floor, and turned over their tables.
John 2:16 – Then, going over to the people who sold doves, He told them, “Get these things out of here. Stop turning my Father’s house into a marketplace!
2. Open up to Him
Psalm 24:8 – Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle.
Psalm 24:3-4 – Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in His holy place? The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god.
3. Make room for Him
Luke 2:6-7 – And while they were there, the time came for her Baby to be born. She gave birth to her firstborn Son. She wrapped Him snugly in strips of cloth and laid Him in a manger, because there was no lodging available for them.”
Numbers 14:21 – But truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.
Discussion questions:
1. In your own words, describe how the Divine Son of God left Heaven’s glory and was
born into the world as a Baby in the manger.
2. Is it difficult to wrap your head around this concept? Why or why not?
3. How does God’s agenda possibly differ from your agenda for God? How can you be sure you are aligned with the former?
4. Have you ever thought about the passion of God being for you as a temple for His presence to dwell?
5. What are some ways you think God may be leading you to make room for Him this week?
6. Do you want to see the glory of God fill you as His temple? If yes, to what lengths are you prepared to go, and what price are you willing to pay? (Think of the story of the pearl of great price in Matthew 13:45-46.)
