EVERY BELIEVER – MAKING DISCIPLES: PART THREE
Matthew 28:19 – Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations.
Pastor Tony Evans on discipleship – Loving a person to Jesus until they can love another person to Jesus.
Tonight – Four keys to successful discipleship
1. FAITHFULNESS
God is faithful to His Word and the Promises of His Word.
2 Corinthians 1:20 – For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
Jesus Christ is the Divine Yes.
We want those we are discipling to grow in trusting the faithfulness of God.
Take your stand on the Promises of God in His Word.
As disciples of Jesus, we want to grow in faithfulness.
Be faithful to your promises.
Show up on time and follow through.
2. HUMILITY
Philippians 2:8 – He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
James 4:6 – God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.
James 4:10 – Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
We want to be teachable.
We are all learners.
Only God knows everything about everything.
The Lord is pleased when we ask another believer to help us grow.
3. VULNERABILITY
Being vulnerable means that I am open to sharing my heart and my struggles with you.
We want to be open and transparent.
Psalm 51:6 – Behold, You desire truth in the inward parts.
We all have areas in which we are growing.
As people are vulnerable with us, we want to be confidential with what they share.
4. ACCOUNTABILITY
Proverbs 27:17 – As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.
Being accountable to another believer helps us grow.
Accountability works best when we ask someone to hold us accountable.
