Facing The Giants

FACING THE GIANTS

We all face many giants in life. Situations and circumstances that look impossible.

In 1 Samuel 17, the people of Israel were facing a literal giant. What was his name?

Goliath was his name. He was over nine feet tall. His spear head weighed between 15-16 pounds.

All the people of Israel were scared: except one.

When David heard Goliath challenge the people of God and the God of the people. David’s response was, “Don’t worry about this Philistine, I’ll go fight him.”

David faced the giant Goliath and overcame. We can face the giants in our lives and overcome as well.

How do we face the giants in our lives and overcome them?

1. Remember Who God is!

Our God is a mighty God. He is bigger than any giant we will ever face.

1 Samuel 17:45 – You come to me with sword, and spear, and javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies- the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.

Our God is the God of Heaven’s Armies. He is Jehovah Sabaoth, the Lord of Hosts.

1 John 4:4 – Greater is He that is in you, than he who is in the world.

Jesus Christ is in us and He is greater than any enemy that comes against us.

Psalm 56:9 – This I know that God is for me. (action step)

Romans 8:31 – If God is for us, who can be against us

2. Remember who we are!

We are sons and daughters of the Most High God.

David knew who he was: he had just been anointed by the Holy Spirit to one day be the king.

He had fought against lions and bears and knew the power of God.

David declared in 1 Samuel 17:35 – The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!

Saul tried to put his own armor on David, but it was too big and didn’t fit. We don’t have to be someone else to walk in victory.

Who God made you to be is enough!

3. Release the Power of faith!

1 John 5:4 – And this is the victory that overcomes the world- our faith.

How do we release our faith to go to work on our behalf? We speak words of faith.

What we believe in our heart, we speak with our mouth.

David made a powerful faith declaration.

1 Samuel 17:46 – This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand.

Goliath you are going down in Jesus name!

Jesus said we can speak to that mountain and it will move! Matthew 17:20

Speak to that giant in your life in Jesus’ Name.

4. Run to the Battle

! Samuel 17:48 – As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran to meet him

As believers, we want to run to the problem and not away from the problem.

We want to face our challenges and our issues, not run away from them.

He ran toward Goliath, picked a smooth stone from his pouch, threw it at Goliath with his sling.

The stone hit Goliath in the head, and down he went. David won the victory through the power of the Lord.

IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST, WE STAND AGAINST EVERY GIANT OF FEAR, DOUBT, UNBELIEF, HOPELESSNESS, LONELINESS, LACK, SICKNESS, AND DIVISION!

WE DECLARE VICTORY THROUGH THE BLOOD AND THE POWER OF JESUS CHRIST!
