1. The “ONE THING Principle”

Psalm 27:4 AMP

One thing I have asked of the Lord, and that only I will seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty [the delightful loveliness and majestic grandeur] of the Lord, And to meditate in His temple.

Philippians 3:8 AMP

But more than that, I count everything as loss compared to the priceless privilege and supreme advantage of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord [and of growing more deeply and thoroughly acquainted with Him - a joy unequaled]. For His sake I have lost everything, and consider it all garbage, so that I may gain Christ.

Luke 10:41-42 TPT

The Lord answered her, “Martha, my beloved Martha. Why are you upset and troubled, pulled away by all these many distractions? Mary has discovered the one thing most important by choosing to sit at my feet. She is undistracted, and I won’t take this privilege from her.

A. “One thing” means it must be set apart.

B. “One thing” speaks to our priorities and our approach.

2. What is your One Thing?

Jeremiah 29:13

You will seek Me and you will find Me when you seek Me with all your heart.

Hebrews 11:6

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Deuteronomy 4:29-31

But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.

Psalm 119:2

Blessed are those who keep His testimonies and seek Him with all their heart.

A. There are NO scriptural promises for those who casually seek Him.

B. There are NO scriptural guarantees for the half-hearted seeker.

3. Am I seeking Him with ALL?

1 Peter 5:7

Cast your cares on Him because He cares for you.

Cares: comes from the Greek word “merimna” meaning “a part, separated from the whole; dividing and fracturing a person's being into parts.

John 2:24 TPT

But Jesus did not yet entrust Himself to them, because he knew how fickle human hearts can be.

Fickle: changing frequently, especially as regards one's loyalties, interests, or affection.

John 17:3 TPT

Eternal life means to know and experience you as the only true God, and to know and experience Jesus Christ as the Son whom you have sent.

Matthew 13:45-46

Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls, who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had and bought it.

Luke 18: 21-23

The man replied, “I’ve obeyed all these commandments since I was young.” When Jesus heard his answer, he said, “There is still one thing you haven’t done. Sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” But when the man heard this he became very sad, for he was very rich.
