OUTPOURING
Acts 1:4-5 (NKJV)
And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me, for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.”
Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
Acts 2:1-2
When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:3-4
Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts 2:14-15
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words. For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is only the third hour of the day.
Acts 2:16-17
But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “And it shall come to pass in the last days says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.”
Acts 2:18-19
And on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy. I will show wonders in heaven above and signs in the earth beneath: blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
Acts 2:20-21
The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before the coming of the great and awesome day of the Lord. And it shall come to pass that whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Today, over 600 million Pentecostal and Charismatic believers trace their roots back to the Azusa Street revival led by Pastor William Seymour.
Acts 2:17a
“And it shall come to pass in the last days says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh.”
1. Receive the Miracle-Working Power of the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.

John 14:16-17
And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.
Acts 1:8b
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you.
The Book of Acts is about ordinary people doing extraordinary things in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Zechariah 4:6b
“Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,” says the Lord of Hosts.
2. Receive the Liquid Love of God into Your Heart
Acts 1:5
For John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.
Baptized – immersed, saturated, overwhelmed
Romans 5:5
Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
3. Come to Jesus as Savior, as Lord, and as the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit
Acts 2:21
And it shall come to pass that whoever calls upon the Name of the Lord shall be saved.
Calls – cry out for help
Save – sozo – rescue, deliver, heal, save
John 7:37b
If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.
A. We come to Jesus as our Savior.
“His blood was poured out at Calvary so the Spirit could be poured out at Pentecost.” – Billye Brim

B. We come to Jesus as Lord.
Romans 10:9 (ESV)
Because if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
C. We come to Jesus as the Baptizer.
Acts 2:33 (NKJV)
Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
We come to Jesus, and we ask, we believe, and we receive.
John 7:38
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.
Discussion Questions:
1. Do you believe another Great Outpouring of the Holy Spirit is about to be poured out on our nation and our region? Why or why not?
2. What are some of the things hindering a mighty outpouring in our personal lives?
3. Are you willing to turn away from anything that would hinder you from receiving the fullness of the Holy Spirit?
4. Jesus wants to baptize you with the Holy Spirit right now or refresh you in His Spirit. Do you find that difficult to believe and difficult to receive? Why or why not?
5. Have you experienced the love of God being poured out in your heart? Can you share what happened?
