10.11.23 | PRAYING WITH BOLDNESS AND CONFIDENCE

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

We can pray with Boldness and Confidence not because of who we are but because of what Jesus has done on our behalf.

What are some things that hinder us from praying with boldness and confidence?

What are some things that help us pray with boldness and confidence?

1. Knowing the Will of God

1 John 5:14-15

Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.

Matthew 8:2

And behold, a leper came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean.”

Matthew 8:3

Then Jesus put out His hand and touched him, saying, “I am willing; be cleansed.” Immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

2. Knowing the Character of God

Psalm 27:13

I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

God’s character is good.

John 14:9

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?

3. Knowing Who We are to God and Who He is to Us

Luke 11:1-2

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” So He said to them “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

We are sons and daughters of God

John 1:12-13

But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 16:25-27

“These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father. In that day you will ask in My name, and I do not say to you that I shall pray the Father for you; for the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me, and have believed that I came forth from God.

We have authority and access to God because of what Jesus has done for us

Revelation 1:6

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

Hebrews 4:16

Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Hebrews 10:19, 22

Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus,…let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith,…
