STEPPING INTO THE SUDDENLIES OF GOD
One of the many exciting words in Scripture is the word, “suddenly”.
“‘Suddenly’ speaks of immediacy and suggests the miraculous.” – Dick Eastman
Prophetic word in the early 90’s: The church is about to move into a season of suddenlies, and I believe that obstacles the enemy has raised up to keep people from the Gospel will begin to crumble so quickly, the church will hardly be able to handle the harvest.
The suddenlies of God are throughout Scripture:
2 Chronicles 29:36
Then Hezekiah and all the people rejoiced that God had prepared the people, since the events took place so suddenly.
Luke 2:13-14
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men.”
Acts 2:2
And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 9:3
As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.
Tonight in 2 Kings 3, we are looking at another “suddenly” of God.
In 2 Kings 3:1-5, the king of Moab rebels against the king of Israel.
In 2 Kings 3:7-8, the king of Israel invites the King of Judah to join him in attacking the king of Moab.
2 Kings 3:8
Then he said, “Which way shall we go up?” And he answered, “By way of the Wilderness of Edom.”
How do we step into the suddenlies of God?
1. Don’t Give Up – Keep Believing
2 Kings 3:9
So the king of Israel went with the king of Judah and the king of Edom, and they marched on that roundabout route seven days; and there was no water for the army, nor for the animals that followed them.
2 Kings 3:10
And the king of Israel said, “Alas! For the Lord has called these three kings together to deliver them into the hand of Moab.”
When facing challenging, difficult circumstances, keep believing God.
Acts 27:23-24
For there stood by me this night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve, saying, “Do not be afraid, Paul; you must be brought before Caesar; and indeed God has granted you all those who sail with you.”
Acts 27:25
Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.
2. Press in to Hear the Voice of God
2 Kings 3:11
But Jehoshaphat said, “Is there no prophet of the Lord here, that we may inquire of the Lord by him?” So one of the servants of the king of Israel answered and said, “Elisha the son of Shaphat is here, who poured water on the hands of Elijah.”
2 Kings 3:15
But now bring me a musician. Then it happened, when the musician played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him.
Worship carries us into His Presence.
In His Presence, we can hear His Voice.
3. Obey the Voice of God
2 Kings 3:16
And he said, “Thus says the Lord: ‘Make this valley full of ditches.’”
2 Kings 3:17
For thus says the Lord, “You shall not see wind, nor shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, so that you, your cattle, and your animals may drink.”
2 Kings 3:18
And this is a simple matter in the sight of the Lord; He will also deliver the Moabites into your hand.
By faith, the armies of Israel dug ditches.
By faith, we obey.
4. Step into the “Suddenly” of God
2 Kings 3:20
Now it happened in the morning, when the grain offering was offered, that suddenly water came by way of Edom, and the land was filled with water.
It was raining in the mountains when they were digging ditches in the valley!
Suddenly the water came!
Suddenly revival is coming!
It is raining in the mountain of God; we need to be digging ditches in the valley below.
We dig ditches through prayer and fasting.
We dig ditches through discipleship and outreach.
We dig ditches through surrender to the Holy Spirit.
The harvest is on the way. The suddenly of revival is here!
