BREAKTHROUGH

There are times when we need a breakthrough: a breakthrough in our marriage, our families, our finances, our business, our personal lives.

Our God is a God of breakthrough.

2 Samuel 5:20“So David went to Baal Perazim, and David defeated them there; and he said, ‘The Lord has broken through my enemies before me, like a breakthrough of water.’ Therefore he called the name of that place Baal Perazim.”

Baal Perazim – The Lord Breaks Through

Breakthrough – to break forth, break out, or break down

The power of God wants to break out, break through, and break down the barriers of the enemy in Jesus’ Name!

Steps to Breakthrough:

1. Remember: Fresh Anointing is Often Followed by Intense Warfare

2 Samuel 5:17a“Now when the Philistines heard that they had anointed David king over Israel, all the Philistines went up to search for David.”

Jesus anointed with the Holy Spirit is then in the wilderness attacked by the enemy. (Matthew 3:16-17, Matthew 4:1-11)

James 4:7“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

2. Run to the Strong Tower

2 Samuel 5:17b“And David heard of it and went down to the stronghold.”

Proverbs 18:10“The Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

There is power in the Name of Jesus.

There is breakthrough in the Name of Jesus.

Begin to speak and call upon the Name of Jesus.

3. Seek the Face of God

2 Samuel 5:19“So David inquired of the Lord, saying, ‘Shall I go up against the Philistines? Will You deliver them into my hand?’ And the Lord said to David, ‘Go up, for I will doubtless deliver the Philistines into your hand.’”

Ask the Lord for His instructions, His wisdom, and His direction.

Proverbs 3:5-6“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”

Call God’s telephone number!

Psalm 50:15“Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”

4. Remove Any Idols from Our Heart or Our Home

2 Samuel 5:21“And they left their images there, and David and his men carried them away.”

1 John 5:21“Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.”

5. Obey the Promptings of the Holy Spirit

2 Samuel 5:23“Therefore, David inquired of the Lord, and He said, ‘You shall not go up; circle around behind them, and come upon them in front of the mulberry trees.’”

2 Samuel 5:24“And it shall be when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the mulberry trees, then you shall advance quickly. For then the Lord will go out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.’”

When we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, we are led into victory.

Jesus is our victory.

2 Corinthians 2:14“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.”
