THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH
John 16:12-13 – “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of Truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.”
John 16:14 – “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.”
Why is it important that we be known as people of truth? Why should we speak the truth in every situation?
The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Truth.
The Holy Scriptures are the written Word of God, the revealed Truth of God.
John 17:17 – “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your Word is truth.”
John 14:6 – “Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
How does the Holy Spirit guide us into all truth?
He opens our hearts to the revealed truth of the Word of God.
Psalm 119:130 – “The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”
Psalm 119:18 – “Open my eyes, that I may see, wonderous things from Your law.”
Ephesians 1:15-16 – “Therefore, I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.”
Ephesians 1:17 -18 – “That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Glory, may give to you the Spirit of Wisdom and Revelation in the knowledge of Him, the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints.”
Ephesians 1:19 – “And what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places.”
What does the process of revelation look like in the life of the believer?
1. Information
We learn the basic truth of the Scripture.
We are learning the facts of the Gospel and the Word of God.
2. Illumination
Information becomes light to our souls.
We begin to understand the truth of the Word.
3. Inspiration
We are receiving the truth with joy.
The Word is coming alive to us!
4. Revelation
The Word of God begins to move from our head to our heart.
The Logos Word begins to become the Rhema Word in our lives.
We begin to experience what had once been only information.
We must obey the revelation we have received in order to receive more.
5. Realization
We are being changed through obedience to the revealed Word of God.
6. Transformation
“We are being changed from glory to glory into the image of the Son through our obedience to that revelation.” – Fuchsia Pickett
2 Corinthians 3:18 – “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
Romans 12:2 – “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”
7. Manifestation
The manifestation of Jesus Christ in and through our lives.
“The beauty of Jesus seen in people who have allowed the Spirit of Truth to touch their lives in every area.” – Pickett
“It requires a deep work of the Holy Spirit to cleanse us from the sins of the tongue and cause us to speak the truth in every situation.” – Pickett
