WALKING IN MIRACULOUS PROVISION

Miracle – divine intervention in the natural realm

“A miracle is God acting in a way which is beyond human understanding.” – Lester Sumrall

“A supernatural manifestation of divine power in the external world.” – Frank Damazio

“As you move through life, God wants your need to collide with His power; He wants to intercept and capture you at His intersection in order to place a miracle in your path.” – Frank Damazio

Tonight, we are looking at miracles of provision.

What are some of the miracles of provision in the Bible?

The Scripture for tonight is 1 Kings 17:1-16, the Lord’s miraculous provision for Elijah.

How do we walk in the miraculous provision of God?

1. Believe That Our God is a God of Abundance

1 Kings 17:2-4“Then the Word of the Lord came to him saying, ‘Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.’”

Elijah delivers the word to Ahab and then trusts the Lord to take care of him.

The Lord is directing Elijah to His place of provision.

Our God is God of abundance. There is no lack in heaven.

We want to live under the waterfall of His abundance.

2 Corinthians 9:8“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.”

Philippians 4:19“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

“Abundance is enough and more than enough so we can give to others.” – Derek Prince

Our God is Jehovah Jireh – Our Provider!

2. Walk in Obedience to His Word and to His Voice

1 Kings 17:5“So he went and did according to the Word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.”

1 Kings 17:6“The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook.”

Elijah obeyed the Voice of the Lord and the Lord sent provision through ravens.

The Lord can provide in surprising ways!

1 Kings 17:7“And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.”

The Lord is our Provider, not the brook.

When the brook dries up, look to Him!

3. Be Open to the Unexpected

1 Kings 17:8-9“Then the Word of the Lord came to him saying, ‘Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.’”

Why would this direction be a difficult one for Elijah in the flesh?

Elijah obeyed the Lord.

The Lord can provide for us in unexpected and surprising ways.

4. Put God First

1 Kings 17:10“So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, ‘Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.’”

1 Kings 17:11“And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, ‘Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.’”

1 Kings 17:12 “So she said, ‘As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.’”

1 Kings 17:13 “And Elijah said to her, ‘Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son.’”

1 Kings 17:14“For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”

Was Elijah being selfish and uncaring?

Elijah was giving her an opportunity to put God first.

Elijah was giving her an opportunity to step into a miracle!

Putting God first positions us to receive the Lord’s miraculous provision!

Matthew 6:33“But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

Proverbs 3:9-10“Honor the Lord with your possessions, and with the firstfruits of your increase; so your barns will be filed with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.”

We want to put God first in our day, in our week, and in our finances.

5. Trust in God’s Multiplying Goodness

The widow put God first and He multiplied the rest.

1 Kings 17:15-16“So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the Word of the Lord which he spoke by Elijah.”

2 Corinthians 9:10“Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness.”

The Lord multiplies every seed sown for His glory in Jesus’ Name!
