EVERY BELIEVER CAN GROW IN THE ANOINTING OF GOD
Acts 5:14 – “And believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women.”
Acts 5:15 – “So that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing might fall on some of them.”
Acts 5:16 – “Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.”
Peter and the early believers were walking in a powerful anointing of the Holy Spirit.
The anointing is the power of God coming upon the people of God, empowering them to do the works of God.
As believers, we can grow in the anointing.
10 Steps to Growing In The Anointing:
1. Receive Jesus as Your Personal Lord and Savior
John 3:3 – “Jesus answered and said to him, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.’”
John 1:12 – “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name.”
2. Receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit
Acts 1:8a – “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.”
Acts 2:4 – “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”
3. Pray in the Holy Spirit
Jude 1:20 – “But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit.”
4. Fast and Pray
Mathew 17:21 – “However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”
Fasting positions us for greater anointing; it does not earn us a greater anointing.
Fasting enables us to hear the voice of God more clearly.
5. Be Diligent in The Word of God
2 Timothy 2:15 – “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”
Romans 10:17 – “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
Matthew 4:4 – “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
6. Receive The Laying On of Hands From Other Anointed Believers
Acts 6:6 – “Whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.”
Acts 8:17 – “Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.”
7. Stay in Spirit-Anointed Worship and Fellowship
Hebrews 10:25a – “Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some.”
8. Be Quick to Repent of Sin
1 John 1:9 – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
9. Be Quick to Forgive, and Quick to Apologize
Colossians 3:13 – “Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.”
10. Step Out in Faith
As we step out, God steps in, and we see His wonders.
Romans 15:19 – “In mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God, so that from Jerusalem and round about to Illyricum I have fully preached the Gospel of Christ.”
