SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY

1. Every Human is Precious to the Lord

The truth is that every life has sacred value, not just human life.

Proverbs 12:10 “A righteous man regards the life of his animal, but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.”

Every life has value, but human life has value far above and beyond the value of any other creature.

Because every human is precious to the Lord, every human life should be precious to us.

Human beings have intrinsic value, above other creature, because we are made in the image of God.

In all of Scripture, only human beings are said to be made in God’s image.

Not even angels are said to be made in God’s image.

Regardless of race, color, creed, gender, culture, or any other thing, human beings are all made in God’s image.

Genesis 1:27 “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God, He created him; male and female He created them.”

2. Human Life is Precious at Every Stage of Development

Zygote, embryo, fetus, infant, adolescent, adult, and senior are all stages of human development.

Some say that an unborn child is just a blob of tissue, a clump of cells, or “it’s not a baby yet; it’s just a fetus!”

Fetus is actually a Latin term that means: “offspring, small child” and even “little one”.

Facts about human development:

At the moment of conception, every human life has unique DNA.

Scientifically speaking, there has never been nor will there ever be, another person like you.

As one wise man said, “We’re all unique, just like everyone else!”

17 days after conception, a preborn child’s heart begins to beat.

At 6 weeks, brain waves are detected.

At 8 weeks, all of the organs are in place and developing.

In our nation, abortion is legal up to birth.

In 2019, New York passed one of the most radical pro-abortion laws in history.

3. The Value of Human Life is Shown in the Price Paid

God showed us the value of human life when He sent Jesus to die for lost human beings.

1 Peter 1:18-19“Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”

Jesus did not die for animals or even angels; He died for human beings.

1 Peter 1:12 “To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.”

If we value what God values, then we should be willing to lay our lives down.

Proverbs 31:8-9 “Open your mouth for the speechless, in the cause of all who are appointed to die. Open your mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy.”

Proverbs 24:11 (NLT) “Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die; save them as they stagger to their death.”
