PARTNER WITH PENTECOST

Acts 2:1-2 – When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.

1. Be His house

Ephesians 2:20-21 (NLT) – Together, we are His house, built on the foundation of the apostles and the prophets. And the cornerstone is Christ Jesus himself. We are carefully joined together in Him, becoming a holy temple for the Lord.

1 Peter 2:5 – And you are living stones that God is building into His spiritual temple. What is more, you are His holy priests. Through the mediation of Jesus Christ, you offer spiritual sacrifices that please God.

John 20:22 (MSG) – Then He took a deep breath and breathed into them. ‘Receive the Holy Spirit,’ He said.

2. Let the prophetic arise

Acts 2:3-4 (NLT) – They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

Acts 2:17-18 – ‘And it shall come to pass in the last days,’ says God, ‘That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams. And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.’

3. Declare the river of life   

John 7:38-39a (NLT) – Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’ (When He said ‘living water’, He was speaking of the Spirit.)

Ezekiel 47:9a (MSG) – Wherever the river flows, life will flourish.

John 10:10b – I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.

Discussion Questions:

1. Since you are a house God wants to fill with His Spirit, what might be blocking that filling from taking place? What can you do to open your “house” more fully to Him?

2. God wants to speak through you! Are you open to being used by God in this way? Are you taking time to hear from Him and share what you hear?

3. Share your thoughts about speaking in tongues. Does this intimidate you? Are you open to this manifestation of the Spirit? If you have received your prayer language, share about that experience, including how often and when you utilize this tool?

4. What are some areas in your life that you sense the spirit of death may be seeking a foothold or agreement? (Remember this spirit is not exclusively focused on physical death; think “the end of things”, a relationship, a dream etc.)

5. God has given us a gift in the river of life. What areas of your life or sphere of influence do you need to declare the river of God as protection against the spirit of death?
