Spread the JOY

Invitation: Join the mission of Jesus

Luke 4:16-21 – So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, Because He has anointed Me To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives And recovery of sight to the blind, To set at liberty those who are oppressed; To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

Luke 10:1-2 – After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go. Then He said to them,“The harvest truly is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

What holds us back from responding to the invitation?

Revelation: He is on the inside

2 Corinthians 1:21 – Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God,

Luke 10: 17-19 – Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” And He said to them, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.”

Restoration: We are made whole as we make whole

Luke 4:18(MSG) – God’s Spirit is on me; he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor, Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and recovery of sight to the blind, To set the burdened and battered free,

Isaiah 61:3 – “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.”

2 Corinthians 4:7 – But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.

Philemon 6 – I pray that your partnership with us in the faith may be effective in deepening your understanding of every good thing we share for the sake of Christ.

Impartation: Empowered to go

John 20:21-22 – So Jesus said to them again,“Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them,“Receive the Holy Spirit.”
