B. Humility cures competition

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Philippians 2:3-4 NLT

Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too.

Pay careful attention to your own work, for then you will get the satisfaction of a job well done, and you won’t need to compare yourself to anyone else.

D. His workmanship cures less than/not enough

E. Failure is opportunity for grace

3. Embrace your Identity in Christ

A. You are a masterpiece

B. You are a temple for the Holy Spirit

Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself.

C. You are chosen

Ephesians 1:4 NLT

Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.

D. You are one with other believers

All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

E. You are a friend of God

F. You are a new creation

G. God has plans and a future for you

H. You are a child of God

I. You are fully known

M. No longer a slave to sin

We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. We are no longer slaves to sin.

Questions for discussion/reflection:

1. Do you relate more to Rachel, or Leah? Why?

2. Which of the identity robbers can you identify in your life?

3. What truth is God speaking to you (rooted in His Word) to drive out that stronghold cutting you off from your identity in Him?

4. What Scriptures do you need to review every day this week to drive Home God’s truth about you?

 

As you dig into God’s truth about who you are, ask the Lord what He might be inviting you to “do” differently in your life?  (Remember, we don’t find our identity in doing, we find it in being a child of God.  Our “doing” flows out of that identity in Him.)
