4.10.2024 | COMMITTING EVERYTHING TO GOD – CONSECRATION
Last week: What does it mean to commit everything to God?
Tonight: Why commit everything to God? How do we commit everything to God?
1. Why Commit Everything to God?
A. Committing Everything to God Brings Growth.
John 15:4
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
John 15:5
I am the vine; you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
John 3:30
He must increase, but I must decrease.
B. Committing Everything to God Brings Rest
Exodus 33:14
And He said, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:29
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Hebrews 4:10
For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
The only thing that ever hinders peace is what someone doesn’t surrender. Jack Hayford
Colossians 3:15 NLT
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body, you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.
C. Committing Everything to God is a Testimony to Others
Isaiah 60:1
Arise, shine, for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord has risen upon you.
Matthew 5:14
You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
2. How Do We Commit Everything to God?
Proverbs 3:5-6
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
A. Trust
Our God is Good. We can trust Him.
Psalm 107:1
Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.
B. Lean not on your own understanding.
Isaiah 55:8
For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways says the Lord.
Isaiah 55:9
For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.
C. In All Your Ways Acknowledge Him
Colossians 1:18
And He is the Head of the Body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
D. Overcome the Enemies of Consecration
Overcome distractions: worry, unhealthy relationships, selfish ambition.
Overcome obstacles: unforgiveness, persecution.
Overcome assaults from the enemy.
E. Walk Through the Process of Consecration
REVELATION
What are the areas of my life I am holding onto? Where am I not trusting? Where am I struggling to surrender?
John 8:32
And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
John 14:26
But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My Name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
REPENTANCE
Repent of idolatry, repent of not trusting Him, repent of trusting in ourselves.
2 Corinthians 7:10
For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.
RELEASE
Psalm 37:5
Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust Him, and He will help you.
Release unforgiveness and past hurts that sometimes make it difficult to trust God.
Make a choice to give back to the Lord every area of your life and specific areas He has highlighted.
PRAYER:
Holy Spirit, I ask You to reveal any areas of my life that are not fully committed to You. I repent for not fully trusting You with every area of my life. By Your grace, I lay down all that I have: my relationships, my ambitions, my choices, my plans, and I commit them to you. I specifically commit to you the areas You have shown me: Help me to surrender to You every day, in Jesus Name, Amen.
