2 Timothy 1:5-7 NKJV

When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also. Therefore, I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

2 Timothy 1:6 NLT

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

  1. RETHINK YOUR WOUNDS

    Romans 12:2b

let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

We can’t always change the problems, but we can change our perspective.

We must focus on Jesus the healer and protector instead of giving place to bitterness and self-protection.

  2. REMEMBER THE WORKS

    Psalms 105:5

Remember the wonders he has performed, his miracles, and the rulings he has given.

    Psalms 77:11

But then I recall all you have done, O Lord; I remember your wonderful deeds of long ago.

“We fear the present because we forget the past!” – Rick Renner

    2 Timothy 1: 5 NKJV

When I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, which dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice, and I am persuaded is in you also.

    2 Timothy 1:6 NLT

This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

  3. REHEARSE THE WORD

    Romans 10:17 NKJV

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

  4. REVERSE YOUR WAY

    2 Timothy 1:7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Questions for discussion/reflection:

  1. Share a time when you have felt discouraged or like the fire of God in your life was turned way down? What helped bring you out of that time?

  2. Paul challenges us to remember the works of God.  Can you share any stories of His faithfulness that have impacted you? (could be personal or from the Word)

  3. Are there areas in your life that you feel you may have given space to fear and self-protection? To draw back instead of being on the advance?

  4. Would you be willing to invite Jesus into those areas of your life, to bring healing and His protection?

  5. Take time to share what reversing direction might look like in your life to move forward in faith?
