EL ELYON – GOD MOST HIGH
Genesis 14:18-19 (NKJV)
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: “Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth.”
Genesis 14:20-21
“And blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” and he gave him a tithe of all. Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.”
Genesis 14:22-23
But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich.’”
Hebrews 7:1-2
For this Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the Most High God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, to whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all, first being translated “king of righteousness,” and then also king of Salem, meaning “king of peace,”
Hebrews 7:3
Without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually.
Melchizedek is a representation of Jesus and reveals who God is to Abram, just like Jesus reveals who God is to us.
So what does Melchizedek reveal to Abram?
1. El Elyon, God Most High, is over everything.
Genesis 14:19
Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High.
El Elyon means God Most High or Most High God.
1 Chronicles 29:10b-11
Blessed are You, Lord God of Israel, our Father, forever and ever. Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power and the glory, the victory and the majesty; for all that is in heaven and in earth is Yours; yours is the kingdom, O Lord, and You are exalted as head over all.
Psalm 24:1
The earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness, the world and those who dwell therein.
Philippians 2:9-10
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
Philippians 2:11
And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Revelation 1:17-18
And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead. But He laid His right hand on me, saying to me, “Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.”
2. El Elyon, The Most High God, will give us victory.
Genesis 14:20
And blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.
Genesis 14:14-15
Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained servants who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan. He divided his forces against them by night, and he and his servants attacked them and pursued them as far as Hobah, which is north of Damascus.
Genesis 14:17
So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother Lot and his goods, as well as the women and the people.
Exodus 12:12
For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.

“No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.”
Judges 7:9
It happened on the same night that the LORD said to him, “Arise, go down against the camp, for I have delivered it into your hand.”

Whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
3. El Elyon, The Most High God, is worthy of our worship.
Genesis 14:20
“And blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand.” And he gave him a tithe of all.
Matthew 6:19-21
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Romans 12:1-2
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
