WORSHIP THAT TRANSFORMS A NATION
Worship realigns us.
1. Let Worship Realign You to be All in with Jesus
John 12:24 (NLT)
I tell you the truth, unless a kernel of wheat is planted in the soil and dies, it remains alone. But its death will produce many new kernels—a plentiful harvest of new lives.
“Sacrifice is the fuel upon which the fires of revival are stoked. In order for there to be a true move of God, something must be laid upon the altar.” – Daniel Norris
Romans 12:1 (NLT)
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him.
2. Let Worship Realign You to Awareness of Need
Matthew 5:3 (NKJV)
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Romans 3:23
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
3. Let Worship Realign You with Action
We sow seeds through our acts of worship expressed as obedience.
Hebrews 13:11-12 (NLT)
Under the old system, the high priest brought the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, and the bodies of the animals were burned outside the camp. So also Jesus suffered and died outside the city gates to make His people holy by means of His own blood.
Hebrews 13:13-14
So let us go out to Him, outside the camp, and bear the disgrace He bore. For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.
Hebrews 13:15-16
Therefore, let us offer through Jesus a continual sacrifice of praise to God, proclaiming our allegiance to His name. And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God.
John 4:23
But the time is coming—indeed it’s here now—when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth. The Father is looking for those who will worship Him that way.
4. Let Worship Realign You with Kingdom Advancement
Psalm 22:3
Yet You are holy, enthroned on the praises of Israel.
1 Peter 2:9
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light.
Philippians 1:20-21 (NKJV)
According to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
“True revivalists understand that dying is the only way to live.” – Daniel Norris
Discussion Questions:
1. When you hear the word, “worship”, what first comes to mind?
2. For many the word is connected with singing songs; why?
3. When Scripture talks about our lives/bodies being presented to God as sacrifices, do you think that’s talking about more than singing a song? If so, what action comes to mind?
4. In what areas of need do you think God may be wanting to increase your awareness? What needs could He be placing on your heart?
5. What might it look like for the kingdom to be advanced through your lifestyle of worship?
6. Is there something in your life (love of money, pleasure, stuff, etc.) that may need to “die” to produce fruit for the kingdom?
7. What is God leading you to place on the altar and sacrifice unto Him?
