MOVING IN FAITH – THE MIRACLE OF THE SHUNAMMITE’S SON

1 Corinthians 12:9-10a (NKJV)

To another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit, to another the working of miracles.

The gift of faith is mountain-moving faith.

“The gift of faith is a supernatural endowment of belief and confidence for a specific situation.” – Robert Morris

“I just had this supernatural peace most of the time.” – Dayna Curry

When the gift of faith is operating, we know that we know that we know God is going to move.

The Shunammite woman and her son is a powerful illustration of the gift of faith.

How do we move in the gift of faith?

1. Hear the Rhema Word of God

Romans 10:17

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Elisha hears and declares the word of the Lord.

2 Kings 4:16-21

Then he said, “About this time next year you shall embrace a son.” And she said, “No my lord. Man of God, do not lie to your maidservant!” But the woman conceived, and bore a son when the appointed time had come, of which Elisha had told her. And the child grew. Now it happened one day that he went out to his father, to the reapers. And he said to his father, “My head, my head!” So he said to a servant, “Carry him to his mother.” When he had taken him to his mother; he sat on her knees till noon, and then died. And she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God, shut the door upon him, and went out.

2. Speak the Word of God

What the Lord speaks to our hearts through His Word, we want to speak with the words of our mouth.

2 Corinthians 4:13

And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.

Matthew 12:34b

For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.

2 Kings 4:23

So he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said, “It is well.”

2 Kings 4:23b (ESV)

All is well.

Literally, Shalom – soundness, wholeness, completeness, health, prosperity, peace

The voice of faith is rising up in her and she is making a faith declaration.

2 Kings 4:26 (NKJV)

Please run now to meet her, and say to her, “Is it well with you? Is it well with your husband? Is it well with the child?” And she answered, “It is well.”

3. Lay Hold of the Promises of God

2 Kings 4:27

Now when she came to the man of God at the hill, she caught him by the feet, but Gehazi came near to push her away. But the man of God said, “Let her alone; for her soul is in deep distress, and the Lord has hidden it from me, and has not told me.”

Cry out to the Lord with all your heart!

Psalm 50:15

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.

2 Kings 4:30

And the mother of the child said, “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So he arose and followed her.

The Lord is touched by persistent faith.

Genesis 32:26

And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me.”

4. Follow the Leading of the Holy Spirit

2 Kings 4:33

He went in therefore, shut the door behind the two of them, and prayed to the Lord.

Lord, what do You want to do in this situation?

2 Kings 4:34-35

And he went up and lay on the child, and put his mouth on his mouth, his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands; and he stretched himself out on the child, and the flesh of the child became warm. He returned and walked back and forth in the house, and again went up and stretched himself out on him; then the child sneezed seven times, and the child opened his eyes.

Hebrews 11:35a

Women received their dead raised to life again.
