GOD’S HEART FOR LOST PEOPLE
Romans 10:13 – “For whoever calls on the Name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Romans 10:14 – “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”
The majority of believers want to share Jesus, but many don’t feel qualified and are not sure what to say.
What is the Holy Spirit saying to us through this powerful encounter of Jesus and the woman at the well?
1. Join Jesus in His Passionate Pursuit of People
Every Home for Christ – Jesus pursues us and gives us a new life and a new identity.
JESUS PURSUES US!
Luke 19:10 – “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”
John 4:3 – “He left Judea and departed again to Galilee.”
John 4:4 – “But He needed to go through Samaria.”
John 4:6 – “Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied from His journey, sat thus by the well. It was about the sixth hour.”
John 4:7-8 – “A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, ‘Give Me a drink.’ For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food.”
John 4:9 – “Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, ‘How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?’ For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.”
John 4:10 – “Jesus answered and said to her, ‘If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, “Give Me a drink,” you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.’”
We want to join Jesus in His passionate pursuit of lost people. We say yes to Him!
2. Drink Deeply of His Living Water
John 4:11-12 – “The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do you get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?’”
John 4:13-14 – “Jesus answered and said to her, ‘Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.’”
Jeremiah 2:13 – “For My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, and hewn themselves cisterns–broken cisterns that can hold no water.”
We want to drink of Him! We want to open our hearts to Him! Drink deeply of the Living Water of the Holy Spirit!
3. Let His Living Water Wash Away Shame, so You Can Share Your Story
John 4:15 – “The woman said to Him, ‘Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.’”
John 4:16 – “Jesus said to her, ‘Go, call your husband, and come here.’”
John 4:17-18 – “The woman answered and said, ‘I have no husband.’ Jesus said to her, ‘You have well said, “I have no husband”, for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.’”
Romans 5:8 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
John 4:25 – “The woman said to Him, ‘I know that Messiah is coming’ (who is called Christ). ‘When He comes, He will tell us all things.’”
John 4:26 – “Jesus said to her, ‘I who speak to you am He.’”
I who speak to you, I AM.
John 4:28-29 – “The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men, ‘Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?’”
John 4:30 – “Then they went out of the city and came to Him.”
John 4:39 – “And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, ‘He told me all that I ever did.’”
Every believer has a story of the goodness of God.
Jesus wants to wash away our shame and free us to share our story for His Glory!
