ANOINTED WITH POWER

Every believer is called to be a minister of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 4:12a“For the equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.”

Every believer is called to be anointed with power in order to fulfill their ministry.

Acts 2:17“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.”

We need Heaven’s power in order to fulfill heaven’s assignment.

The enemy wants to bring confusion and misunderstanding about the baptism of the Holy Spirit because he does not want to see believers walking in the power of the Holy Spirit.

The apostles were empowered by the Holy Spirit. Charles Finney was empowered by the Spirit. D.L. Moody was empowered by the Spirit.

The teaching of the New Testament is that the Holy Spirit is in us when we are born again, and the Holy Spirit comes upon us, empowering us, when we are baptized with the Holy Spirit.

John 20:22“And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit.’”

Luke 24:49“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you, but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.”

Acts 1:8“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

Acts 2:33“Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.”

Jesus is the Baptizer with the Holy Spirit!

1. The Holy Spirit is with Us

He is drawing us to Jesus Christ. (John 6:44, John 16:7)

2. The Holy Spirit is in Us

He is changing us to be like Jesus and bear His fruit. (2 Corinthians 3:17-18, Galatians 5:22-23)

3. The Holy Spirit is Upon Us

He is filling us with His power and anointing us for ministry. (Acts 1:8)

Luke 3:21“When all the people were baptized, it came to pass that Jesus also was baptized; and while He prayed, the heaven was opened.”

Luke 3:22“And the Holy Spirit descended in bodily form like a dove upon Him, and a voice came from heaven which said, ‘You are My beloved Son; in You I am well pleased.’”

Luke 4:18-19“The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”

These words from Isaiah 61 are the very mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Now we are the Body of Christ. His mission is now our mission.

We are called to step into the anointing of the Holy Spirit and continue the ministry of Jesus.

The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to preach the Good News to the poor.

The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to bring healing, comfort, and encouragement to the brokenhearted.

The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to pray for the sick and believe God for their healing in Jesus’ Name.

The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us minister to those oppressed by the powers of darkness and see them set free.

The Holy Spirit wants to anoint us to declare over families and people that this is the season of the favor of the Lord.

Luke 4:18 is now the calling of the Body of Christ. Will we say yes to that calling in Jesus’ Name?
