WORTHY IS THE LAMB

Luke 2:1-3

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city.

Luke 2:4-5

Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child.

Luke 2:6-7

So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

2 Corinthians 5:21

For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

John 1:29

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world.”

Revelation 1:18a

I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore.

He is worthy! He is of infinite worth and value!

How do we live a life that declares and demonstrates to the world the worthiness of our Lord?

1. Worship Him

Jesus, the Lamb of God, is worthy of our worship and praise!

The birth of Jesus is surrounded with the glory of God, with worship, and praise!

Luke 2:8-9

Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flocks by night. And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.

Luke 2:10

Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.”

Luke 2:11-12

“For there is born to you this day a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.”

Luke 2:13

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly hosts praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

Revelation 5:9

And they sang a new song, saying, “You are worthy to take the scroll, and to open its seals; for You were slain, and have redeemed us to God by Your blood! Out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.”

Revelation 5:12

Saying with a loud voice, “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing!”

Psalm 22:3

But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.

2. Pursue Him

Jesus, the Lamb of God, is worthy of our full pursuit and complete obedience.

Luke 2:15-16

So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and Babe lying in a manger.

Mark 9:36

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

Philippians 3:7-8

But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ. Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord; for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ.

“We know that it is worth everything to follow Him, to walk with Him, to serve Him, to lose our lives for Him.” – John Wimber

3. Share Him

Jesus, the Lamb of God, is worthy to be shared and served.

Luke 2:17-18

Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

The shepherds were the first to hear the Good News and the first to share the Good News.

2 Corinthians 5:20a

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us.

Hamsa shares the gospel everyday with Iraqis who are frustrated with Islam and desperate to find God.
