KEEP THE FIRE BURNING

Acts 2:42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostle’s doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.

Acts 2:36Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.

Pentecost is a sign that Jesus is Lord.

Acts 2:37 Now when they had heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’

Acts 2:39For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off.”

Acts 2:41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them.

How do we keep the fire of revival burning in our hearts?

Leviticus 6:13 A fire shall always be burning on the altar; it shall never go out.

The early church was totally committed to growing in Christ.

Act 2:42 (NLT) All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

We want to be committed to growing in the Lord and committed to helping others grow in the Lord as well.

1. KEEP IN THE WORD

Acts 2:42a (NLT) All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching.

John 8:31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, ‘If you abide in My word, you are my disciples indeed.’

Psalm 119:103How sweet are Your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.

We want to read the Word – 1 Timothy 4:13

We want to study the Word – 2 Timothy 2:15

We want to memorize the Word – Psalm 119:11

We want to meditate on the Word – Psalm 1:2

We want to be doers of the Word – James 1:22

The Word keeps the fire burning.

2. KEEP IN KOINONIA

Acts 2:42a (NLT)All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship.

Koinonia – fellowship; spiritual communion with the Lord and with each other.

Acts 2:46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart.

Hebrews 10:25aNot forsaking the assembling of ourselves together as is the manner of some.

Whether we are online or in person, we need the Body of Christ and the Body of Christ needs us.

The enemy wants to work through offense and unforgiveness to remove people from the Body of Christ.

Koinonia keeps the fire burning.

3. KEEP PRAYING AND PRAISING GOD

Acts 2:42All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord’s Supper), and to prayer.

The early church was devoted to prayer.

Acts 2:47a Praising God and having favor with all the people.

The early church was a praising church.

I Thessalonians 5:16-18a Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks.

Prayer + Praise keeps the fire burning.

Is the fire of revival burning in our hearts?

Are we committed to keeping that fire burning?

Discussion Questions:

1. Have you experienced times in your life when you were on fire for the Lord?

2. Have you experienced times in your life when you were not on fire for the Lord?

3. What happened in your life to dampen the fire for the Lord?

4. Has the enemy tried to remove you from fellowship through offenses? How did you overcome him?

5. Are you having a daily devotion time with the Lord to read His Word and pray? If not, are you willing to start today?
