Generational Blessings

Luke 1:39-40 (NKJV) Now Mary arose in those days and went into the hill country with haste, to

a city of Judah, and entered the house of Zacharias and greeted Elizabeth.

Luke 1:41-42 (NKJV) And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe

leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. Then she spoke out with a

loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!

Luke 1:43-44 (NKJV) But why is this granted to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to

me? For indeed, as soon as the voice of your greeting sounded in my ears, the babe leaped in my

womb for joy.

Luke 1:45 (NKJV) Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things

which were told her from the Lord.”

Acts 2:16-17 (NKJV) But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: And it shall come to pass

in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh, your sons and daughters

shall prophecy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.

Acts 2:18 (NKJV) And on My menservants and on My maidservants, I will pour out My Spirit in

those days; and they shall prophecy.

1. EMBRACE GOD’S INTERGENERATIONAL MOVEMENT

Luke 1:39 says that Mary went with haste to visit Elizabeth.

Luke 1:36 (NKJV) Now indeed, Elizabeth your relative has also conceived in her old age; and

this is now the sixth month for her who was called barren. For with God nothing will be

impossible.

Elizabeth receives Mary, she honors Mary, and she encourages Mary.

Mary honors Elizabeth by coming and looking for her assistance.

Ephesians 2:22 (NKJV) In whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in

the Spirit.

2. RELEASE THE BLESSING OF GOD

Luke 1:42 (NKJV) Then she spoke out with a loud voice and said, “Blessed are you among

women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb.”

Luke 1:45 (NKJV) Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfillment of those things

which were told her from the Lord.

Proverbs 18:21a (NKJV) Death and life are in the power of the tongue.

Luke 1:18-20 (NLT) Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old

man now, and my wife is also well along in years.” Then the angel said, “I am Gabriel! I stand in

the very presence of God. It was he who sent me to bring you this good news!    But now, since

you didn’t believe what I said, you will be silent and unable to speak until the child is born. For

my words will certainly be fulfilled at the proper time.”

3. RECEIVE FRESH ANOINTING AND FRESH JOY

Luke 1:41 (NKJV) And it happened, when Elizabeth heard the greeting of Mary, that the babe

leaped in her womb; and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.

Luke 1:15b uses the same word and tells us that John the Baptist was filled with the Holy Spirit.

even from his mother’s womb.

womb for joy.” Luke 1:44 (NKJV)
