10.04.23 | LORD TEACH US TO PRAY

The Holy Spirit is calling us to prayer: individually and as a Body.

Matthew 21:13

And he said to them, “My house shall be called a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.”

Our lives are to be houses of prayer. This house is to be a house of prayer.

Larry Lea: How to grow in prayer: Desire, Discipline, Delight

Jesus modeled the life of prayer.

Mark 1:35

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Jesus stepped into the secret place, and He is calling us into the secret place of prayer.

What do we say in the secret place? What do we do?

Luke 11:1

Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”

The Lord’s prayer is not only a prayer to pray, but also a pattern of prayer: a prayer outline.

How do we pray?

1. Begin with Worship

Matthew 6:9

In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

We worship Him for who He is and thank Him for what He has done.

Romans 8:15

For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out “Abba, Father.”

We have a Heavenly Father who loves us. We can come to Him as little children.

Begin to declare the Biblical names of God:

Thank you Lord You are Jehovah Rapha, You are Jehovah Jireh, You are Jehovah Shalom, You are Jehovah Shama, You are Jehovah Nissi, You are El Shaddai.

2. Declare the Kingdom

Matthew 6:10

Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

The Kingdom of God is the rule and reign of Jesus the king.

Jesus rule in my life, my family, this church, our city and our nation.

Rule and reign in the leaders of Your church and the leaders of this nation.

3. Ask for His Provision

Matthew 6:11

Give us this day our daily bread.

Father God provided manna every morning except the Sabbath, twice as much the day before.

Philippians 4:19

And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Father God has linked His giving to our asking.

Matthew 7:7

Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.

4. Forgive

Matthew 6:12

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

Unforgiveness hinders the move of God in our lives and in the life of the Body of Christ.

5. Plead the Blood of Jesus

Matthew 6:13

And do not lead us into temptation but deliver us from the evil one.

Plead the blood over your life, your day, your family, and the family of God.

Pray for angelic protection over your life, your family and the family of God.

Psalm 91:11

For He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.

Pray a wall of fire around you, your family, and the family of God.

Zechariah 2:5

For I, says the Lord, will be wall off fire all around her, and I will be the glory in her midst.

Call upon the river of God to fill you, your family and the family of God.

Ezekiel 47:9b

And everything will live wherever the river goes.
