1. What does it mean to Speak Words of Life?

Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks

2. Why Should We Speak Words of Life?

A. To encourage and edify others

Romans 15:2

Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification.

Ephesians 4:29

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

B. To encourage and edify ourselves

1 Samuel 30:6

Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself LORD his God.

Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him for the help of His countenance.

C. The effects are far reaching

Proverbs 18:21

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

D. The effects are long lasting

Matthew 12:36

But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment.

C. Test the words

Necessary, Edifying, True

D. Choose to bless

How do we break curses?

a. Forgive (if it was spoken over you)

b. Repent

c. Forgive self

d. Renounce enemy

e. Break the bondage
